NFL UNVEILS OFFICIAL SUPER BOWL XLIII GAME LOGO
NBC Set to Debut Logo in Primetime on Monday Night

Glendale, Ariz. - Super Bowl XLII and the world champion New York Giants have officially entered the history books, but while the celebration continues in Arizona, the National Football League is already preparing for the future and Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa Bay.

Following the conclusion of Super Bowl XLII, the NFL will begin assembling a billboard on 24th Street south of Jefferson Street in Phoenix. The words "See You in Tampa Bay" accompanied by the unveiling of the official Super Bowl XLIII game logo will greet fans returning to Sky Harbor International Airport on Monday morning.

"While fans are still celebrating in Arizona after another exciting Super Bowl week, we are already looking ahead to Super Bowl XLIII and Tampa Bay," said Frank Supovitz, the NFL's senior vice president of events. "We are pleased to return to Tampa Bay, the site of three memorable Super Bowls. The unveiling of the Super Bowl XLIII logo kicks off a year-long celebration for the entire region."

Super Bowl XLIII will be played on February 1, 2009 at Raymond James Stadium and will be broadcast by NBC Sports, the network's first Super Bowl in 11 years.

The official logo will debut this Monday night in primetime on NBC, as part of an on-air promotional announcement highlighting NBC Sports' coverage of Super Bowl XLIII. With the game still a year away, this marks the earliest a network has ever begun Super Bowl promotion.

"This is just an initial indication of how excited we are to broadcast the Super Bowl," said Dick Ebersol, Chairman, NBC Universal Sports and Olympics. "The Super Bowl is a holiday celebrated like no other and we can't wait to come to Tampa Bay to show the celebration to the rest of the world."

The Super Bowl XLIII game logo was created to reflect the natural elements of Tampa Bay, including the blue and green hues of the regional waterways and landscapes. The design showcases an abstract representation of a stadium and field. The stars on either side of the logo symbolize the AFC and NFC Conferences, a tradition that began with the Super Bowl XL logo. This represents the first time this color green has been used in an official game logo.

"The unveiling of the Super Bowl XLIII game logo puts Tampa Bay officially on the clock," said Tampa Bay Super Bowl Host Committee Chair R.A. "Dick" Beard. "Our preparations are already well underway, and we'll be ready to host the NFL and the world in 2009."
